When your goal in life is to change people through music it?s fair to say you have big aspirations. Though this next artist started rapping as a hobby, there is no denying that he now takes music very seriously. Introducing Re-ill, a North Carolina native that now lives in Atlanta, Georgia. Even though he is still in the early stages of his career, Re-ill understands the importance of being a positive role model. Re-ill does not only use his music as motivation for other, he also believes that because of it he has made better decision in his own life.
2VIDA+ When did you first decide to pursue your passion?
Re-ill- I started making music when I was 16 but I became serious [about it] when I was 18.
2VIDA+ Who are some of the people that inspire you to do music?
Re-ill- I?m inspired by countless artists but [the] main ones would have to be Michael Jackson, Jay-Z, Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West, Drake and Lil Wayne.
2VIDA+ Who are some of the people that helped you to reach where you are today?
Re-ill- My Mother, My Sister, and My Friend J.Alston.They have always believed in me and helped me any way they could.
2VIDA+ Name one of the most memorable places your talent has allowed you to visit?
Re-ill- Last summer I had a meeting with Atlantic Recordsin New York City. I went to Times Square and performed it really re-motivated me.
2VIDA+ What has been the biggest eye opening experience for you thus far?
Re-ill- Since I moved to Atlanta and got a small taste of how the industry works, it hurts me to say that the music industry is more about money then talent. Even knowing this you just got to work even harder, and stay positive because good things come to those who wait.
2VIDA+ What?s one of the biggest misconceptions about the industry you are currently in?
Re-ill- That everything is always easy. [From] outside looking in the music life looks like heaven on earth, but I learned from my little experience with the music industry that it is not just happy times, but also very stressful times. I learned this and I have only scratched the surface of this industry. I know it will be more intense each level I over come.
2VIDA+ What have you learned about yourself since first decide to follow your dream?
Re-ill- I learned that being yourself in everything you do can make you and the people you are around happy and proud.
2VIDA+ What has been the best advice you've received?
Re-ill- The best advice I every received had to be from my close friend J.Alston. He told me a while back that ?soon this will all be a memory? so in bad times I tell myself [that] to keep my head up high.
2VIDA+ Who are some of the people that you work with or have worked with?
Re-ill- I have yet to work with anyone major industry wise, but people that I really enjoy working with are Buddy Fieldz my producer, along with Eric Biddle J.Alston and Vychan.
2VIDA+ What are some of your goals for the future? What are you trying to achieve through you talent?
Re-ill- I want to be able to let the masses hear my music and not only be a star but a role model for the next generation. I want to someday be able to open positive programs for children across the world, to give them more positive role models and to have someone other than their family who truly believes in them.
