Karsh Award 2012: Rosalie Favell
Catalogue excerpt: My photo-based work centres on issues of identity and culture, inspired by my Métis (Cree and English) heritage. For my audience, both Native and non-Native, I hope to show the diversity of issues brought up in photography and the photograph. Most can choose to deal with the politics implicit in the photograph: others cannot. The camera is a powerful weapon used to colonize minds and memories. The challenge is to know your own part in this, to know your own place in the picture. -Rosalie Favell, 2012 Karsh Award Recipient

Pedro Isztin: The River
