Tag the City Workshop - Document.Upload.Spread

The main aim of Tag the City Workshop is to create a geo platform for young people, who have documented any of the events from January 25, 2011 until today, to upload their material and make it accessible to the others interested in knowing more about the events that took place in specific locations. During the workshop participants will learn how to digitally enhance and upload their content onto the platform. Once the workshop is finished, the workshop leaders will help participants print QR code posters (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QR_code) and distribute the posters around the city in order to move the workshop activities from digital to analogue form and vice versa.
This is not a political workshop, however, it is tailored for active citizens demanding their rights and for those that embrace democracy and freedom of expression.


Day 1 and Day 2 will cover the same concepts with the additional information inspired by presentations given by guest speakers such as the internationally rennouned director, activist Mazen Said. Mazen was one of the first to call for documenting the revolution and post revolutionary events in order to track their effects on the current political situation in Egypt.

Criteria for applicants:
18 + years of age

Basic technical skills

All material used for this workshop must be the applicant’s own (ex. Photos and videos)
(it is very important that participants have access to interesting content and that they have full ownership of the material used!)

ورشة عمل
"علم على المدينة: وثق. ارفع. انشر"

العنوان: ٧ شارع النوبار (مبنى سوبر ماركت خير زمان) الدور ١١

الهدف الرئيسى وراء ورشة عمل "علم على المدينة" هو خلق منصة جغرافية للشباب الذين قاموا بتسجيل الأحداث التى وقعت من ٢٥ يناير ٢٠١١ حتى الآن، بهدف تحميل موادهم وجعلها متاحة لغيرهم من المهتمين بمعرفة المزيد حول الأحداث التى جرت فى أماكن بذاتها. خلال الورشة، يتعلم المشاركون كيف يقومون بتحسين الصور بشكل رقمى وتحميلها على المنصة. بمجرد انتهاء الورشة، يقوم قادة الورش بمساعدة المشاركين فى طبع بوسترات بكود الرد السريع "كيو آر"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QR_code وتوزيعها فى أرجاء المدينة، وعندها تتحول أنشطة الورشة من أنشطة رقمية إلى أنشطة أرضية والعكس صحيح. الورشة ليست Ø³ÙŠØ§Ø³ÙŠØ© ولكنها صممت لتساعد المواطنين الناشطين على طلب حقوقهم بما فى ذلك الديمقراطية وحرية التعبير.

هايكون فيه نجوم هاتشارك في ورشة العمل في اول و ثاني يوم. سيحضر الورشة اليوم الاول المخرج العالمي والناشط السياسي واحد المنادين منذ بداية الثورة باهمية التوثيق للثورة لضمان نجاحها. المخرج المصري مازن سعيد. مازن هايتكلم عن اهمية التوثيق للاحداث اللي حصلت خلال وبعد الثورة ودوره والمشاكل اللي مر بيها.

شروط التقدم:

أن يكون المتقدم فى سن الثامنة عشر فما فوق.
مهارات تقنية أساسية.
كل المواد المستخدمة فى الورشة (مثل الصور والفيديوهات) يجب أن يحضرها المشاركون
(من المهم جدا أن يكون لدى المشاركين مواد جديرة بالإهتمام وأن يكونوا مالكين للمواد التى يستخدمونها!)

قمرة هي خدمة تهدف إلى تثقيف الشعوب العربية عامة ، ومصر خاصة ، عن طريق جعل المعلومات بمختلف انواعها (مقروءة ، مسموعة ، ومرئية) متاحة امام الجميع حتي يتم استخدامها من قبل الناس لبناء اراء مستنيرة، واتخاذ قرارات مدروسة.
قمرة هي مبادرة من شباب مصريين يعملوا في مجال تكنولوجيا المعلومات، وميولهم المجتمعية والسياسية والدينية لاتؤثر في حيادية نشر هذه المعلومات ولكن بالعكس، فان كل من يشارك في تأسيس قمرة يؤمن تماما بضرورة نشر حريات مثل: حق المشاركة السياسية، حرية الرأي ، حرية التعبير ، حرية التواصل ، حرية الاعلام ، حرية الانترنت ، حرية العقيدة ، حرية التجمع السلمي ، حرية الانتماء السياسي ، الغاء الرقابة ، حق الحصول علي المعلومات ، حق العدالة ، حق المساواة واخيرا حق اقامة انتخابات حرة ونزيهة.

Bjorn Olsson

Björn Olsson explores our attitudes to time and our immediate environment with an almost scientific approach. Working mainly with images and video, Olsson depicts the passing of time, movement and the environment in which we continuously find ourselves – often without noticing it. Through his work, Olsson transforms the universal into the personal and registers and depicts the individuals subjective experience of his or hers life and existence. Every second and every movement becomes significant, providing a reminder of how time is constantly passing us by, whilst the cyclical progression of the clock and of nature provides us with a sense of security and stability.

يستكشف بيورن أولسن بأسلوب يكاد يكون علميا طبيعة احساسنا بالزمن واندماجنا فى بيئتنا المباشرة. يصور أولسون من خلال الصور الضوئية والفيديو مرور الوقت وحركة البيئة التى ننغمس فيها حتى نكاد لا نلاحظها. يقوم أولسن فى عمله بتحويل ما هو مفروغ منه إلى أمر شخصى، حيث يسجل ويصور الرؤى الذاتية للأفراد عن حياتهم ووجودهم، وهو بهذا يذكرنا بأهمية كل لحظة وكل ثانية تمر، ويشرح لنا كيف أن الزمن يمر بنا ونحن نحاول أن نبحث عن الأمان والاستقرار فى مرور الفصول ودوران عقارب الساعة.

IRL (In Real Life)

IRL (a chat room acronym for “in real life”) presents net-based works that play with the border between virtual and physical spaces. A roster of international artists discards the idea of the browser as a window into an alternate reality, through which the viewer is absorbed into an image or narrative. Instead, these digital artworks establish an almost material presence — through the texture of light projected on a wall, a sense of gravity pulling on a membrane-like screen, or the volume of otherworldly forms that penetrate and mix realities.

"أي أر إل" (اختصار يستخدم أثناء المحادثة عبر الإنترنت ل "في الحياة الحقيقية") يقدم أعمال قائمة على الإنترنت التي تلعب مع الحدود بين المساحات الافتراضية والجسدية. قائمة بأسماء الفنانين العالميين يتجاهل فكرة المستعرض كنافذة الى واقع بديل، التي يتم من خلالها استيعاب المشاهد إلى صورة أو السرد. بدلا من ذلك، هذه الأعمال الفنية تنشىئ وجود مادي بالتقريب - من خلال نسيج الضوء المسقطة على الجدار، و الجاذبية التي تسحب على شاشة تشبه الغشاء، أو حجم الأشكال من عالم اخر التي تخترق وتخلط الحقائق.

Come and support local artists at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 17th for Wednesday Wagbas!

Townhouse is selecting two artists out of an open call to receive grants of 1,000 LE each for their projects. On October 17th, the selected grantees will present their winning proposals in Townhouse's Rooftop Studios and get feedback and support from you, the audience. In addition to the artist presentations, audience members can enjoy delicious home made food served up by a special guest chef for a donation of 20 LE. These donations go directly back into the granting program, to support more artists’ projects throughout the year. The more people that attend the meal, the bigger the Wednesday Wagba grant will grow from month to month!

تم اختيار اثنين من المتقدمين لتلقى منحة قدرها ١٠٠٠ جنيه لكل منهما، في يوم ١٧ اكتوبر الفنانين المختارين سوف يقدما مشاريعهما في ستوديوز الروف توب للحصول على ردود الفعل والتأييد منكم انتم الجمهور. بالإضافة إلى عروض الفنانان ، يمكن لأفراد الجمهور الاستمتاع بمأكولات لذيذة طبخها ضيفا خاصا بعشرين جنيه. هذه التبرعات تذهب مباشرة مرة أخرى في برنامج منح لدعم مشاريع فنانين أكثر على مدار السنة، عندما يزيد عدد الجمهور الحاضر للفاعلية يزيد فرص منح وجبات الاربعاء من شهر الى شهر!

"وجبات الأربعاء" هو مشروع مجتمعى يهدف لتقديم منح متناهية الصغر تسمح للفنانين المقيمين بالقاهرة بالحصول على دعم سريع وسهل وشفاف يمكنهم من تطوير برامج جديدة.

Film Screening
On Syria by Syria

In a continuous fight with the undeniably difficult situation in Syria, its youth found creative channels to expressing their opinions, observations and hopes for a better future. A selection of short films (mainly shot through mobile cameras) illustrating day to day events and decisions faced by various characters of Syrian society will be presented in Townhouse's library in recognition of the ongoings of the Syrian Revolution.
(This selection has been made with the help of Syrian activists in hopes of shedding light upon the aesthetics of protest and in support of Syria. Special thanks to Shady Shehadeh)

في معركة مستمرة مع صعوبة الحالة في سوريا لا يمكن إنكاره، شبابها تجد قنوات مبتكرة لتعبيرهم عن آرائهم وملاحظاتهم والآمال لمستقبل أفضل. وستعرض مجموعة مختارة من الأفلام القصيرة (معظمها مصورة على كاميرات المحمول) في مكتبة تاون هاوس التي توضح يوميات والقرارات التي يواجهها مختلف الشخصيات من المجتمع السوري لتأييدهم في ثورتهم.
(قد تم اختيار هذه المجموعة من الافلام بمساعدة نشطاء سوريين على أمل تسليط الضوء على الجماليات التي نشئات من الاحتجاج و لمساندة بلدهم. الشكر الخاص ل شادي شحادى)
