KENOSHA,
WI – The Civil War Museum is offering a Fall Lecture Series,
sponsored by the Milwaukee Civil War Roundtable and the Iron Brigade
Association.
“The Art of
History” 12 p.m. Saturday,
October 13. Rob Girardi's presentation highlights his collaborative
work with artist Keith Rocco and details the process of telling the
story of the events and individual personalities of the Civil War in
words and paintings. While at the museum, be sure to visit the
exhibit, “Capturing the Past: The Civil War Art of Keith Rocco”
in the John M. Antaramian Gallery.
“10 Days in
Libya: A Photographic Journey During the Libyan Uprising in the
Summer of 2011” 1 p.m.
Saturday, October 20. Ronald Larson, Ph.D history student at UW-M and
freelance writer, discusses his two-week trip to Libya in 2011.
Larson photographed the revolutionary activities in Benghazi, the
destruction in Miserata, and the front line between the rebels and
Gaddafi's forces. His presentation includes how he got into the
country and the people's attitude toward the U.S.
“Minnesota's
Other Civil War: The Dakota Conflict of 1862” 1
p.m. Saturday, November 17. Stephen Osman, recently retired senior
historian with the Minnesota Historical Society, discusses why the
Dakota War of 1862 was the single most important event in Minnesota's
history. He explores the causes of the battle as well as the legacy
still felt today.

Fall Lecture Series is free and open to the public.
