Workshops

Autumn brings with it an abundance of creative activity here at The Model. One of our new exciting workshops will see art bursting out on to the bricks and mortar of Sligo Town’s buildings in the next month, while art workshops for children of all ages are planned to enchant and messify!

Adult Classes


Drawing without Paper
Sun. 14 Oct. 12am – 2pm

Workshop Fee €40

Dutch Artist Bart Lodewijks will lead two Sunday workshops whilst Artist-In-Residence at The Model. Participants are invited to draw using found materials. Bart Lodewijks is famous throughout Europe for his large outdoor pieces of work created on buildings with chalk.
Bart describes the workshops as a chance for the participants to draw naked: "I don't mean without clothes,or nude models. Instead we will start from scratch, trying to find basic drawing material like gathering wood for a fire. We are going to draw in the public space and see what becomes relevant”

Life Drawing with Clea van der Grijn

Fridays from 05 Oct. – 09 Nov.
11am – 1pm 
Workshop Fee €75

A series of six drawing and painting workshops led by Model Studios artist Clea Van Der Grijn. With a life model in situ, participants will explore all elements of life drawing including proportion, perspective, composition, anatomy, line, gesture, tone and colour, using a wide range of mediums and approaches.
Drawing and painting materials are not provided. 
Suitable for all levels.

Morning and Afternoon Sessions for Toddlers and Parents

2pm – 3.30pm
€5 per session


This will be an imaginative workshop, where children will be invited to thoroughly explore the materials, so don’t be shy of getting messy.

Art Trap

Telling Tales: tall tiny and full of treasure

A treasure hunt through the galleries will reveal hidden objects for children to collect and will provide the material for a SCULPTURE workshop.

Using objects and found materials as a starting point the 
children will develop a range of colourful characters. Through 
collaborative storytelling activities these characters will be brought to life. Led by artist Naomi Draper.
