Art News:

Hello and welcome to FALL! We have quite a few things coming up.

1. On Saturday, October 13th, 2 talks and a concert.

Starting at 1 PM Casey Gunschel will discuss extreme leather tooling, her
current show Ritual Unions: A Fairy Story, and her art in general.

At 2 PM Jim Dingilian will discuss his show Smoke Drawings, along with his
interest in photography, and subtraction. He's flying in from NYC for this,
and the reaction his work gets is not unlike Brian Dettmer's.

And finally... at 3 PM we have a music event.... Cigar Box Guitar Concert,
featuring Jeremiah Lee's instruments from his current show. Chris Dimond
will be the featured player. He is a fine arts music grad from the
University of Iowa and will .....rock the house?

Jeremiah Lee is a featured artist in Chicago Artist's Month and this is one
of the featured events in the catalog programming. WPWR did a little story
on the event.

David Sutton also will be on hand selling his new book about Cigar Box
Guitars....He is the author and photographer of Cigar Box Guitars: "The
Ultimate DIY Guide for the Makers and Players of the Handmade Music
Revolution". Sutton is better known locally as the owner of and principal
portrait photographer at Sutton Studios, where he has specialized in
capturing the unique bond between people and their pets for over fifteen
years.

2. Believe it or not there is more....we are participating in our bi-annual
EXPLORE FULTON MARKET, same day, Saturday, October 13, 12 5 PM. This
means in our general neighborhood there will be about 40 creative businesses
up for your visit... Of course start here! There will be a simple
visitation game with cash prizes involving the best hand of poker....

3. And if you have gotten this far... Two more things. The night before
all these events, there is a reception for new gallery artist Peter
Karklins. He does the most concentrated and intense surreal pencil drawings
I have ever seen. We will have a show for him in February, but you can get
a museum peak of his work at the DePaul Art Museum on
Friday evening, October 12 from 6 - 8 PM.

4. In closing, I'd like to mention a fantastic show that Lorraine Peltz is
in.... At Carthage College in Wisconsin, curated by Danny Orendorff. She is
in good company, featuring among others, work by Mike Andrews, Claire
Arctander, Claire Ashley, Edie Fake, Jesse Harrod, Allison Schulnik, and
Saya Woolfalk.
