The M P Birla Millennium Art Gallery is pleased to present 'The Indian Paintbrush - A Cornucopia of Colours and Culture', a solo exhibition of new works by artist Veena Giridhar Gopal.
In this exhibition, Veena presents a series of artworks that take us on a journey through time in the Indian subcontinent. Though most of the exhibited paintings have been heavily inspired by the history and culture of the Indian Sub-continent and its Literature, some of the pieces also contain elements of Veena's own experiences while growing up in India.
Her paintings are a lively fusion of ethnic and abstract art and she uses various art styles as well as unusual colour combinations to convey her message. For the unprepared, India is an assault on the senses, especially on the eyes, with its explosion of colours.
Veena Giridhar Gopal is a London based artist who has exhibited her paintings in London as well as in Gaborone, Botswana. Her work was included in a group exhibition 'Art in Mind' at the Brick Lane Gallery in December 2011, where she sold most of her exhibited paintings. She previously exhibited a body of work titled 'Kgalagadi - the Land of Thirst' at the Brick Lane Gallery in August 2009. Some of her earliest works were shown in a group exhibition held by Botswana Arts in Gaborone in 2004.
Her work is also very well received by critics in the New Master Artist website where they have been described as 'Gem' and 'inspiring work, rich of in depth meaning and appealing to deeper inner layers of consciousness' |
