ARTIST IN RESIDENCE TALKS - Aberystwyth Arts Centre

TONIGHT: Jennifer Price, David Brazier & Kelda Free and Elise Simard

Arts Centre Cinema

Aberystwyth Arts Centre is currently hosting an Artists' Residency Programme. As part of the residency, each artist will give an informal talk about their work.

Elise Simard's films often spring from a single sentence and an image. Mixing experimental and traditional animation techniques, she looks to create mystical pathways to help my characters bridge the ordinary and the sublime. She loves to work with light, photographic filters and distortion lenses, and to experiment with low-fidelity reproduction and recording processes.

Jennifer Price harnesses basic and traditional printmaking methods, then stands them on their head, such that the results cross boundaries of printmaking, drawing, sculpture, site-based installation, and public intervention. The work addresses complex layers of material culture and the role of the visual artist in a complicated age of media.

David Brazier & Kelda Free make site responsive works through a transdisciplinary approach which includes video, photography, installation and constructed situations. They frequently collaborate with non arts based participants, allowing unexpected outcomes to develop the content of the work and starting points for new artistic projects.

Mae Canolfan y Celfyddydau Aberystwyth ar hyn o bryd yn cynnal Rhaglen Artistiaid Preswyl . Fel rhan o'r cyfnod preswyl mae pob artist yn cyflwyno sgwrs anffurfiol am ei waith.

Mae ffilmiau Elise Simard yn aml yn tarddu o un frawddeg a delwedd. Gan gymysgu technegau animeiddio arbrofol a thraddodiadol, mae'n anelu at greu llwybrau cyfriniol i helpu ei chymeriadau i bontio'r cyffredin a'r aruchel. Mae hi wrth ei bodd yn gweithio gyda golau, ffiltrau ffotograffig a lensys ystumiad, ac yn arbrofi gyda phrosesau ail-gynhyrchu a recordio.

Mae Jennifer Price yn harneisio dulliau print sylfaenol a thraddodiadol, ac yn eu troi wyneb i waered, fel bod y canlyniadau yn croesi ffiniau printio, arlunio, cerflunwaith, gosodweithiau ac ymyriad y cyhoedd. Mae'r gwaith yn cyfeirio at haenau cymhleth o ddiwylliant materol a r�l yr artist gweledol mewn oes gymhleth y cyfryngau.

Mae David Brazier & Kelda Free yn creu gweithiau sy'n ymateb i safle trwy ddefnyddio dulliau aml-ddisgyblaethol sy'n cynnwys fideo, ffotograffiaeth, gosodwaith a sefyllfaoedd a adeiledir. Maent yn aml yn cydweithio gyda chyfranogwyr y tu allan i'r celfyddydau, gan ganiatau i ganlyniadau annisgwyl ddatblygu cynnwys y gwaith a chreu mannau cychwyn ar gyfer prosiectau artistig newydd.
