El Jebel Shriners to host all ages haunted house.
“The Screaming Dead” runs Oct 19-30, 2012

(Denver) The Shriners are renowned internationally for their whimsical style, committed membership and community spirit. In honor of that spirit, and with the goal of creating a fun, safe option for families to celebrate Halloween, The Meeter’s group of Denver’s El Jebel Shriners is hosting “The Screaming Dead” all ages Haunted House from October 19 through October 30, 2012 at The El Jebel Shrine Center 4625 50th Avenue (50th and Tennyson) in Northwest Denver.

The house will be open Monday-Thursdays 4-9 pm, Fridays 4-11 pm, Saturdays 11 am-11 pm and Sundays Noon-8 pm (Except Sunday Oct. 28, 4-9 pm).

The event is open to the public and will be appropriate for children ages 8-12, however, all ages are welcome at the discretion of their parents. Children under 12 must be accompanied into the haunted house by an adult. Tickets are $8 per person for both children and adults and may be purchased at the door. Haunted attractions include Zombie Bride, Frankenstein’s Lab, Alfred Packer, Texas Chainsaw, Swamp Thing, The Mazean. Refreshments like popcorn and beverages will be available for purchase. Proceeds will go to operational costs for the local chapter in order for them to more effectively serve their charitable mission and are not deductible as a charitable contribution.

“The goal of the event is to reach a younger audience who enjoys the ‘scarier’ side of Halloween. There are so many commercial haunted houses aimed at adults” said Shriner and planner, Joe Castellano. “Kids these days are exposed to so much and may be a little bit harder to frighten, but it is all in good fun and I thought it would be nice to create a haunted house just for them.”

A hidden jewel in northwest Denver, the Mediterranean-style El Jebel Shrine Center was built in the 1920’s on an expanse of land that now neighbors the City of Denver-owned, Willis Case Golf course. Like then, it is used today to hold meetings and events for the local Shriners and is available to rent for special events.

El Jebel Shriners is the Metro Denver-based arm of Shriners International. Shriners International is a fraternity based on fun, fellowship and the Masonic principles of brotherly love, relief and truth. There are approximately 340,000 members from 195 temples (chapters) in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, the Philippines, Puerto Rico and the Republic of Panama.
