County Museum offers photo workshop
San Bernardino County Museum Curator of History Michele Nielsen and professional photographer and artist Terry Long will lead a
special “evening edition” architectural walking tour and photo opportunity in Redlands entitled “As Darkness Falls” on Saturday, October 13, 2012 beginning at 4:30 p.m. This is a free event sponsored by the San Bernardino County Museum through ArtMuse, a grant
from The James Irvine Foundation. Participation is limited to 30 people and reservations are required. Please call: 909.307.2669 x 256 to reserve your space in this free program.
Participants will meet in downtown Redlands and enjoy a walk of several miles on flat terrain, with discussions of local historic
architecture. Since the program is a photo safari, guests are encouraged to bring their cameras. Terry Long will give tips on a very special type of photography – capturing buildings at that certain time of night – called the magic hour, just before dark.
“An atmospheric sky barely lit by the last of the sun and buildings lit from within make a wonderful combination for photographs.
But you must know the tricks and catch your subject at just the right moment to take advantage of the light and grab great shots,” said Nielsen. “Terry is an accomplished photographer and a terrific teacher. Guests are in for a treat—an opportunity to hone
their photographic skills and learn new techniques.”
“As Darkness Falls” is one of a series of workshops offered by the County Museum with support from the James Irvine Foundation.
Upcoming ArtMuse events include an ArtFest workshop on Saturday, October 20 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Dia de los Muertos activities on Saturday, November 3 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., both at the County Museum in Redlands.
