HOUSTON NOW:
A Panel Discussion presented in conjunction with
the group exhibit IN PLAIN SIGHT at McClain Gallery
Saturday, October 6, 2012
at 3 PM
Special Guests
Frances Colpitt - Toby Kamps - Aaron Parazette
The discussion at the gallery will include panelists:
Frances Colpitt, the Deedie Potter Rose Chair of Art History at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Toby Kamps, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at The Menil Collection, Rainey Knudson, Founder and director of Glasstire.com, and Aaron Parazette, Houston artist and organizer of In Plain Sight. The topic of discussion will use the In Plain Sight exhibition as a point of departure to address the larger issue of where the Houston art scene is now - as a community, creative center, and connector to the national and international art world.
In Plain Sight features selected works by 40 exceptional painters currently working in Houston highlighting an array of styles, genres, and media ranging from well-established artists to up-and-coming painters. Arts + Culture Houston recently published a review of the exhibition, along with Parazette's solo show currently on view at Art League Houston. Additional information about In Plain Sight can be found on the McClain Gallery website.
