Miloš wins Classic Brit Award ahead of Debut Australian Tour

Montenegrin guitar sensation, Miloš Karadaglić has won the Mastercard Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the 2012 Classic BRIT Awards held at London’s Royal Albert Hall, 2 October.

Miloš also received a nomination for Album of the Year for his 2011 album, The Guitar.

‘It’s very, very exciting’, said Milos after the ceremony. ‘My first album was released only 18 months ago, and what we’ve managed to do in this short period of time is very humbling. It reminds me of my belief in classical guitar and what I want to do with it.

Miloš will tour Australia from 22 November - 3 December giving his first public recitals in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

From the war-torn Montenegro of his youth to the world’s biggest concert halls, Milos has been hailed as a ‘champion’ for a new generation of classical virtuosi.

At only 28 years of age, Miloš’ is the first guitarist in more than 40 years to be signed to the exclusive recording label Deutsche Grammophon. His debut album The Guitar (2011) was one of the biggest-selling classical discs of 2011 selling over 100,000 copies in less than six months. His follow up album Latino (2012) also spent months at the top of classical charts around the world, including number one in the UK, US and Australia.

At the 2011 Gramophone Awards Miloš claimed both the Young Artist of the Year and Specialist Classical Chart awards, and in September 2012, Milos gave a near-sellout solo recital at London’s Royal Albert Hall - the only guitarist to have performed solo in the famous hall in it’s history - with The Guardian calling it ‘... hypnotic and quite extraordinary.’

With his guitar made by Australian Luthier, Greg Smallman, and counting Australian guitarist John Williams as one of his most influential heros, Miloš says he has a special place for Australia and is ‘excited and delighted’ to be touring Australia so early in his career.
