The Biggs Museum is always looking for innovative ways to show appreciation to our members. Be sure to sign up for our FIRST "Members Only" event scheduled for Sunday, October 14 to be held in conjunction with Celia Pearson's Glass Transformed exhibition. Join us from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. as we celebrate you during an afternoon of coffee, teas and pastries. Nationally recognized photographer, Celia Pearson, will be with us sharing stories and reflections about the lure of sea glass and the creation of the exhibition Glass Transformed. Celia's work has been published and exhibited widely, and is in corporate, private and museum collections. There will be plenty of time for questions at the end. Be "Busy as a Bee" at the Biggs
Looking for something to do this weekend? Look no further. The Biggs Museum will be hosting its first Sip and Shop event on Friday, October 5 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Join us in celebrating and supporting Deb Appleby and Marilyn Nugent, glass artisans, who will be here showcasing their exquisite hand blown glass. Former National Geographic Photographer, Kevin Fleming, will also be here for a book signing and to discuss his new publication, "Landmarks and Legacies". Stop by and meet these talented Delaware By Hand members.
On Saturday, October 6 at 1:00 p.m. invite your friends and family for an afternoon of jazz with Fostina Dixon-Kilgoe, a composer, vocalist and jazz soloist who plays soprano, alto and baritone saxophones; flute; and clarinet. Ms. Dixon-Kilgoe is a Delaware Division of the Arts, Established Professional in Jazz: Composition. She has played with Sammy Davis Jr., Prince and Marvin Gaye, with whom she toured for four years. Fostina's unique saxophone and vocal style combines the depth of jazz with the feel of R & B and soul. |

The evening highlights will include an appearance by Kevin Fleming and book signing of his new publication "Landmarks and Legacies - Exploring Historic Delaware." Deb Appleby and Marilyn Nugent will also be on hand showcasing their wares, such as hand blown glass vases and Venetian style glass beads which will be available for purchase.

Participants will learn about the history of pumpkins in America before creating their own pumpkin patch to take home.

A Call for Artists |
Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington Delaware is seeking original artworks for key public spaces within their hospital. Please visit the Hospitals website at "Nemours/Alfred I. duPont hospital for Children Expansion" to familiarize yourself with the architecture before submitting your entry.
