Contemporary Palestinian Photography and Video

Encouraging audiences to question and engage, Beyond the Last Sky investigates the subversive potential of humour to challenge representational assumptions and clichés.
The exhibition offers opportunities for audiences to gain new insight into the depth and breadth of Palestinian experience, inviting them to look at Palestine from an unconventional, playful and engaging perspective.
Beyond the Last Sky has been created in partnership between the Australian Centre for Photography and the National Institute for Experimental Arts, College of Fine Arts, the University of New South Wales and is supported by Cultural Media.

SUMMER SEASON
1 December 2012 – 17 February 2013
The Australian Centre for Photography is pleased to announce its 2013 Summer Season. The season will comprise of four exhibitions by Ann Shelton, Robert Besanko, René Norwie and collaborating artists Darragh O'Callaghan and David Sudmalis.
Ann Shelton confronts the complexity of historical memory in the series in a forest. René Norwie explores contemporary motherhood through her photographic practice, and the immersive installation Aphasia draws together photomedia, sculpture, sound, music and performance. Over a twelve-month period, ACP will be dedicating a gallery to explore a single image of Robert Besanko's work, which has recently been digitised. The image will change monthly, with an original photograph and a new enlarged digital print version for audiences to discover.

TOURING EXHIBITION
ACP's touring exhibition ºSouth: War is showing at Hervey Bay Regional Gallery until 29 October 2012. The exhibition includes documentary photography from the Vietnam War through to the conflict in Afghanistan.

A CP is proud to be collaborating with Flashpoint Labs to present Photolines. It is an eight-week program for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders aged between 15 and 25 to learn about photography.
Photolines starts 10 October 2012 and will run every Wednesday from 4–6pm at the National Centre of Indigenous Excellence in Redfern, Sydney. Participants will gain photography, storytelling and changemaking skills. All equipment is provided, including cameras.
