Our Mission

The Paul Robeson Galleries presents critically engaging exhibitions, public events and educational programs to Rutgers University and Greater Newark audiences.  It is in the spirit of Paul Robeson himself that the gallery network is dedicated to an urban mission with an activist approach to educational and exhibitions programming.  This commitment includes organizing exhibitions and public programs on local, regional, and international contemporary art and culture, as well as developing civic partnerships through community outreach programs.  Our aim is to initiate cross-disciplinary and civic dialogues as ways of strengthening bonds between art, education, and democracy.  Our exhibitions, programs, and events are always free and open to the public.
