Weatherbeaten: Winslow Homer and Maine
|
On view through December 30.
"Homer's paintings produce an all-at-once, all-over experience, with forces flying in every direction and at every speed. A wave crashes, with a spurt of explosive velocity, and meanwhile the slow-heaving swell of the next wave is on its way, as riptides and winds contend and collapse." --The Boston Globe

Eight drug addicts are gathered in a Greenwich Village loft apartment belonging to Leach. They have accepted a fee from Jim Dunn, a self-righteous young documentarian, and his cameraman J.J. Burden to film them. They are waiting for their drug connection to arrive with the heroin. While the four musicians play jazz, Dunn asks the others to relate anecdotes about themselves and their backgrounds.
Ornette: Made in America
Sunday, October 7, 2 p.m.
NR
Ornette: Made in America is essential for anyone hoping to understand the history of jazz and the fertile creative exchange that highlighted the 60's and 70's in America. It is a portrayal of the inner life of an artist and innovator.
The film serves almost as a portrait of Fort Worth, Texas, Ornette Coleman's birthplace, to which he returns to perform his Skies of America symphony to well-heeled society members, and with his electric Prime Time group at the Caravan of Dreams.
