DICK AVERNS THE 90KM/H ECONOMY DRIVE

Artist Talk Presented by Mountain Standard Time Performative Art Festival 6
October 21 at SAAG | 4 PM

Join us on Sunday, October 21 at 4 PM for an artist talk with Dick Averns. The 90kmh Economy Drive aims to create a more sustainable community among motorvehicle users. It proposes a mass performance art project that deploys an art 'multiple' - a green maple leaf decal affixed to the rear of one's motor vehicle - to demonstrate a commitment to reduced highway driving speed and with it, reduced fuel consumption and pollution. In collaboration with his exhibition at the Epcor Centre for the Performing Arts Ledge Gallery (Calgary), Averns will lead a caravan down the highway to Lethbridge at a fuel efficient 90 kmh.

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS

Volunteering is a great way to get involved at the Southern Alberta Art Gallery. October is a busy month, and we are looking for volunteers to help us with a number of initiatives. Our Craft Beer Festival is just around the corner on October 20th. As a new fundraiser for the gallery, we require volunteers to fill a variety of roles, from setting up tables, to pouring beer, to greeting guests and selling tickets. And we are always looking for extra hands to help with our education programs such as Tender Fingers and Art Club!

If you are interested in volunteering for the Craft Beer Festival on October 20th please contact Danielle Tait, Manager of Fund Development, at 403.327.8770 ext. 22 or via email at dtait@saag.ca.

If you are interested in volunteering for education programs, please contact Cristie Gray, Gallery Educator, at 403.327.8770 ext. 29 or via email at education@saag.ca.
