"Liquid Identities" at Scoletta di San Giovanni Battista e del SS. Sacramento in Bragora

Liquid Identities | Venice (Italy) - Crossing fluid frontiers

The historical Scoletta di San Giovanni Battista e del SS. Sacramento in Bragora in Venice was the fascinating venue of Liquid Identities, an international video art festival and photography exhibition which opened the doors on September the 28th to September the 30th. Fifty-seven artists, thirty-two video artists and twenty-five photo artists, from different countries had been selected to be part of this project. The project, organized by International ArtExpo and curated by Luca Curci, dealt with the constant transformation and fluidity of human identities and with all their interconnections with the surrounding environments.

Venetian waters, with all their archetypical connotations of birth, transformation and transition, are the perfect habitat for the artworks to offer us their personal interpretations of identity theme.
Into a mosaic of photos, digital works and videos, we meet disguised portraits, fluid shapes and whirls, fragments of cities and evolving bodies. We are led through a carousel of different artworks which reflect the multitude of existing identities and roles, developed into a society that has broken down all the barriers between people, cultures, spaces and time.

During this borderless time we have the possibility to live and experience a constant hybridization among cities, bodies, societies, cultures and new technologies, which shapes and regenerates our individualities. These new eclectic and polymorph identities are a fertile ground for the artistic research and an interesting argument for the audience. The exhibition was visited every day by many international visitors and Venetian citizens, journalists and critics, who appreciated the significance of the theme.

International ArtExpo would like to acknowledge all the video artists and photo artists for their effort, vision, and passion for contemporary art.
