A Finale for our annual Guild Fine Craft Fair
[October 20 & 21]
Montgomery County Community College, Blue Bell
After 5 great years, the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen will host its final fine craft fair at its current site at Montgomery County Community College on October 20 & 21.
“This has been a wonderful place for us to host a Fine Craft Festival,” Executive Director Sherrie Boyer said. “The college staff is wonderful and the community has really supported us here. Our craftsmen love the park like atmosphere and we’ve enjoyed five lovely Octobers here. But times change, and sometimes you just have to make difficult choices. This will be our last year here and we hope everyone will come out to see us.”
More than 3,500 people make the trek to the fair location annually in pursuit of handcrafted work created by expert craftsmen in the Guild.
To celebrate the final year at the current site, the Guild is returning to its original site on campus. 80 craftsmen and fine artists will exhibit in and around the newly renovated College Hall.
Soak in the beauty of autumn while shopping handmade inspiration at our most intimate show of the year, 60 booths inside and 20+ booths outside create the perfect mix for your day.
The 2012 fair features thousands of designs from independent American artists including furniture, clothing, jewelry, sculpture, and fine art. The Guild is known for uniting impeccable craftsmen with craft-seeking customers in search of one-of-a-kind objects made in America. This annual two-day event delivers exceptional works to a savvy audience.
“When you use or see a beautiful handmade object, it lifts your spirits,” said Sherrie Boyer, executive director. “We believe that the making of craft enriches lives–and that using those crafts everyday is a deeply satisfying, and enriching way to approach each day. It’s nice to start your morning with coffee made in a mug by someone you’ve met, whose hands worked to form the clay. It makes us happy, and that is what beautiful craft is all about. ”
Fair hours are 10 am to 6 pm Saturday, and 10 am to 5 pm Sunday. Admission is $7. Free for children 12 and under. Free parking is plentiful.
