Bank of America Art Conservation Project Announces Call for 2013 Grantee Submissions

[Charlotte, N.C.] – Bank of America today announces a request for grant applications from global art institutions.  Applications for the Bank of America Art Conservation Project are welcome from all nonprofit cultural institutions with significant works of art requiring conservation. The deadline for submissions is November 30, 2012.

The Bank of America Art Conservation Project is a unique program that provides grants to nonprofit museums throughout the world to conserve historically or culturally significant works of art that are in danger of degeneration. Introduced in 2010, the program was expanded globally in 2012.

“We are looking forward to continuing the Art Conservation Project into 2013,” said Rena DeSisto, International CSR and Global Arts and Culture executive at Bank of America. “Bank of America believes the arts help to drive economic stability while also furthering cultural understanding.  Through our ongoing conservation work, in collaboration with our esteemed nonprofit partners, we aim to strengthen the local communities and preserve the heritage where we conduct business.”

The Bank of America Art Conservation Project is an extension of the bank’s global commitment to supporting the arts, which is demonstrated through a multi-tiered program of sponsorships and grants as well as loans from its expansive art collection.

Grant recipients in 2012 included: Capital Museum in Beijing; Castello Sforzesco in Milan; Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya Museum in Mumbai; Anahuacalli Museum in Mexico City; Dulwich Picture Gallery in London; Guggenheim in New York; Iraq Museum in Baghdad; Kunsthaus in Zurich; Menil Collection in Houston; Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid; Museu de Arte de São Paulo in São Paulo; Art Gallery of New South Wales in Sydney; National Gallery in Washington, D.C.; Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam; Rezan Has Müzesi in Istanbul; Seattle Art Museum in Seattle; Shanghai Museum in Shanghai; Tel Aviv Museum of Art in Tel Aviv; and Tokyo National Museum in Tokyo.  For a full description of each project and images, please visit http://museums.bankofamerica.com/arts/Conservation.
