Center of American Craft opens A Thing or Two
Annual exhibition shares the joy of the season and the joy of craft
What will you see when you combine a little of this, a little of that, a bevy of baskets and a match of mittens? You’ll see the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen’s latest themed exhibition, A Thing or Two at the Center of American Craft in downtown Lancaster.
The work on display at this annual exhibition arose from artistic interpretations of the number 2, connections, the idiom “know a thing or two,” and collaboration. More than 30 juried members of the Guild are represented in the exhibition, and many of the works displayed are for sale. These members will compete to receive upwards of $2500 in awards sponsored by 9 chapters of the Guild. Nationally known artist Gail Gray, wife of Mayor J. Richard Gray, will choose the award-worthy pieces.
“The holidays are all about joy,” says Sherrie Boyer, executive director to the Guild. “It’s an annual tradition at the Guild to invite our master craftsmen to come up with new, beautiful, and whimsical ways to celebrate the season. With A Thing or Two, we’re creating space to share the joy of the season and the creative genius of our members.”
A Thing or Two is on display from December 7 to January 5 on Mondays through Saturdays from 10 am to 5 pm (and Sundays until the end of 2012) at 335 N. Queen St, Lancaster.
