Featured artists damali abrams, Daphne Arthur, Frances Gallardo, Deborah Jack, Jayson Keeling, Miguel Luciano, and Pierre Obando will lead the tour, sharing reflections on specific works and themes addressed by artists of the Caribbean diaspora.

Antonia Pantoja ¡Presente! (2009) tells the story of visionary social worker, educator, activist, and community organizer Dr. Antonia Pantoja (1922 - 2002), founder of the New York-based advocacy organization, ASPIRA - the first Puerto Rican owned and controlled organization in the United States dedicated to providing education and leadership training for Puerto Rican youth. A passionate, indomitable leader and 1996 Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient, Pantoja worked with the Puerto Rican community to fight against social and class issues faced by the Puerto Rican community.

Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor's appointment as the first Latina Supreme Court Justice in 2009 made her an international icon, but it was the years leading up to this appointment that made her an inspiration. Now, Justice Sotomayor returns to El Museo del Barrio on the release of her memoir, My Beloved World. Award-winning journalist Maria Hinojosa joins Justice Sotomayor in a conversation about her journey from a Bronx housing project to the federal bench.

The Panorama of the City of New York is an architectural model of NYC at the Queens Museum of Art. Help support its ongoing care and maintenance by adopting an East Harlem building or another NYC structure that has special meaning to you. Suggested donation levels range from $50 to “purchase“ an apartment, $250 to adopt a private home, $500 to “purchase“ a school, library or firehouse or $2,500 for neighborhood maintenance.
