We are asking for your generosity to HELP KEEP S1 ARTSPACE OPEN so we can continue our work into 2013.
The last few years of consistent funding cuts across the arts seriously jeopardise organisations like S1 Artspace, which are vital links in a wider cultural economy. Your support will ensure that our arts community continues in its support of artists, to thrive and develop in a challenging and ever changing climate.
We receive no regular public funding from our City or the Arts Council and increasingly rely on good-will and donations to be able to continue with our activities. We spend an enormous amount of our time fundraising which is becoming increasingly more difficult - this is where you can help to ensure we can continue with our work into 2013.
Your generosity will help keep S1 Artspace open and will also support...
A new generation of artists to develop and receive exposure
The continuation of our free public exhibitions and events programme
A thriving artistic community in Sheffield - despite the odds!

S1 Artspace is a non-profit charity that provides a free gallery space dedicated to contemporary art as well as affordable studio spaces for artists and creative businesses based in Sheffield.
S1 was founded by artists who simply wanted a decent space to work in Sheffield's city centre and in 2003 a dedicated gallery space was established. Through our exhibitions programme we support and present work by both emerging and established artists and have a strong commitment to commissioning new work. Over the past few years, we have presented exhibitions with Haegue Yang, Keith Wilson, Jennifer West, George Henry Longly, Eva Berendes, Karla Black, Jessica Warboys and Melissa Gordon, amongst many many more.
Since 1995, we've continued to grow. In 2010 we relocated to Trafalgar House, a 16,000 sq ft indus
trial building across two floors, which has allowed us to be more ambitious with our exhibitions programme and provide much better quality studio spaces.
Over the past few years, we have presented solo and group exhibitions with Berlin based, Haegue Yang, who represented South Korea in the 2009 Venice Biennale; Keith Wilson, co curator of British Sculpture at the Royal Academy, London 2010; LA based Jennifer West, who exhibits from LA to Australia via Germany, Canada and Alaska; Berlin based, Eva Berendes; Glasgow based Turner Prize Shortlist, Karla Black; Paris and London based Documenta 13, participant Jessica Warboys and New York artist Melissa Gordon, amongst many many more.
Your support will ensure that our work can continue into 2013 and beyond.

We are aiming to raise £15,000 which will ensure that we can carry on with our activities into 2013. All funding raised will be an enormous support to S1 so please give what you can and here's what you can receive for your generosity...
