FREEWAVES RECEIVES MULTI-YEAR GRANT FROM THE ROBERT RAUSCHENBERG FOUNDATION ARTISTIC INNOVATION AND COLLABORATION (AIC) GRANT PROGRAM
January 10, 2013 (Los Angeles, CA) - Freewaves, a Los Angeles media art not-for-profit, is pleased to announce that the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation has awarded the organization a three-year grant to commission and show artists' new collaborative videos on all Los Angeles Metro buses.
Freewaves is one of nine nationally selected organizations to receive this prestigious award from the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation's Artistic Innovation and Collaboration Grant in 2013, the second year of the program. The AIC grant program supports fearless and innovative collaborations in the spirit of Robert Rauschenberg and is the first national competitive grant program for the foundation.
The funds from the grant will be used to expand Freewaves’ Los Angeles county-wide pilot project, OUT THE WINDOW, that brings collaborative video projects to the inside of all Los Angeles county buses. Targeted at a deserving population, these artistic explorations will center on the themes of empowerment, justice, human rights, environment and health.
Artists include: Mel Chin, Yoshua Okon & Silverio, John Jota Leanos, Ann Kaneko & Peter Bill, Poli Marichal & Fernando Castroman, Lisa Marr & Paolo Davanzo.
