Marci Crawford Harnden works her paintings between the subtle shift that bridges abstraction and realism in this latest offering at d. m. allison art on Colquitt. Harnden's work is gestural and layered mark making, while she alludes to the physical manipulation and interplay of mirage and illusion.
Her intention is to express intimate landscapes through atmosphere and shadowed tree forms while investigating abstract elements inherent in nature.

Born in Columbia Missouri, raised in a family with three brothers, and a wildlife biologist father and artist mother, Marci Crawford Harnden embraced her childhood living next to a deep wooded acreage and a secluded rock quarry lake turned recreational hideaway in the center of a university town.

Later the artist attended University of Missouri and quickly landed in the art department studying life and anatomical drawing, painting, design where she met and married Sam Harnden in 1972. Marci's first child was born and as the couple moved to Houston in 1974, where the artist began her artistic discovery and conpleted here first body of work as a visual artist.
