Lilliput takes its title from Jonathan Swift's Gulliver's Travels, conjuring a magical world populated by fairy tale creatures and dreamlike landscapes. MORE Thomas Houseago, Lying Figure Through March 14, 2013 On the High Line at Little West 12th Street Thomas Houseago's monumental bronze sculpture of a headless giant rests between the High Line's original railroad tracks. Lying Figure contrasts with the small-scale sculptures of Lilliput, introducing the park's own Gulliver. MORE El Anatsui, Broken Bridge II On view through Summer, 2013 Western wall next to the High Line between West 21st & West 22nd Streets El Anatsui presents his largest work to date, an awe-inspiring sculpture made of recycled pressed tin and mirrors. Broken Bridge II creates a stunning visual of wave-like patterns and folds, while reflecting the surrounding landscape of the High Line. Richard Artschwager, blps Through February 3, 2013 HIGH LINE COMMISSION High Line Art and the Whitney present a series of lozenge-shaped marks installed on overlooked spaces at the park. Founded in 2009, High Line Art presents a wide array of artwork including site-specific commissions, exhibitions, performances, video programs, and a series of billboard interventions. Curated by Cecilia Alemani, the Donald R. Mullen, Jr. Curator & Director of High Line Art, and produced by Friends of the High Line, High Line Art invites artists to think of creative ways to engage with the uniqueness of the architecture, history, and design of the High Line and to foster a productive dialogue with the surrounding neighborhood and urban landscape.
