Dancer seeks community volunteers
Emily Johnson is seeking community members to perform in Niicugni (Listen), a new dance to be performed February 13 at the Redfern Arts Center. Niicugni is the second in a trilogy of works that relate to Johnson's Yup'ik heritage that she began while an artist-in-residence at the Vermont Performance Lab in Guilfort, VT. Sewers from this community helped create hand-made fish skin lanterns that will be used in Niicugni. Johnson along with VPL and the Redfern are seeking non-dancers from the community to participate in this performance project, especially photographers and beekeepers. Participants do not need any experience performing on stage, just a willingness to try something new, and be available for two rehearsals the week of February 10th and for the February 13th performance. Interested? Contact Sharon Fantl, the Redfern's assistant director, at 603-358-2167 or sfantl@keene.edu
