Winter seems like its finally upon us and with that comes snowy weather and hunkering down at home with hot mugs of tea.

To get you out of the house, we are excited to invite you to engage in some upcoming mental stimuli at threewalls:

1.  Next Thursday, January 31st at 7PM, we host collaborative readings for Mary Patten's exhibition, PANEL, as well as the release of her exhibition catalog, Schizo-text, featuring the writing of Rebecca Zorach.

2.  Starting February 20th, threewalls will be host to e-flux's touring book co-op! Brought in collaboration with the Open Practice Committee and Logan Center Exhibitions, we will be kicking off this textual residency with the first program of our spring program series Knocking on Doors, Waking Sleeping Dogs

3. Save the date: February 28th: In conjunction with the Open Practice Committee and Logan Center Exhibitions, threewalls welcomes e-flux founders and journal editors Anton Vidokle, Julieta Aranda and Brian Kuan Wood. Join us for this public conversation at 7PM.

1. SCHIZO CULTURE: A Collaborative Reading and Schizo-text Release

SATURDAY FEBRUARY 9, 2013 7PM LIVE SCHIZO PANEL 

PANEL, Mary Patten's solo project/exhibition at threewalls, addresses torture and coercive uses of therapy administered in prisons and mental institutions.  PANEL is a performance-based, multi-channel video/sound installation, drawn from a transcript of a panel discussion at “Schizo Culture,” a symposium on schizophrenia and radical politics organized by Sylvère Lotringer held at Columbia University in 1975.  On Thursday, January 31st beginning at 7PM, Mary adds SCHIZO CULTURE: A Collaborative Reading and the release of Schizo-text, her exhibition publication with the writing of Rebecca Zorach.  Appearing exclusively on the 31st:

Also at 7PM, on Saturday, February 9th of the following week, Schizo Culture, live in the gallery, a panel on prisons and asylums featuring Michel Foucault, Ronald Lainge, Howie Harp, and Judith Clark, with an introduction by Sylvère Lotringer.

2. e-flux book co-op comes to threewalls!

FEBRUARY 20 - JULY, 2013
FEBRUARY 20, 2013 7PM Opening Event

the eflux book co-op is a mobile bookstore with over 600 titles on contemporary art, theory, and criticism from over 100 international art centers, artist-run spaces, and independent publishers.  threewalls will host the book co-op through the summer alongside some of our own Reading Room material.   The collection of e-flux titles will be housed at threewalls, with e-flux journal available at Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts Café brought in collaboration with Open Practice Committee with Logan Center Exhibitions, University of Chicago.

To celebrate the opening of the book shop, we will kick off Samantha Topol's programming residency, Knocking on Doors, Waking Sleeping Dogs.  Invited guests will engage in a series of discussions on the materiality and visibily of labor, starting with a presentation by Monika Szewczyk, the Logan Center’s Visual Arts Program Curator, on February 20 at 7PM. What this discussion produces in discourse and ideas will be explored through other forms—performances, live readings, reading seminars, installations, and others still to be discovered—in the next events occurring throughout the spring. 3. e-flux founders and journal editors Anton Vidokle, Julieta Aranda and Brian Kuan Wood in conversation

Join us for a conversation with e-flux founders and editors, Anton Vidokle, Julieta Aranda and Bruan Kuan Wood. Established in January 1999 in New York, e-flux is an international network which reaches more than 90,000 visual art professionals on a daily basis through its website, e-mail list and special projects. Its news digest - e-flux announcements - distributes information on some of the world's most importatn contemporary art exhibitions, publications and symposia.
