“Close to the Soil”

The Mission Trails Regional Park Foundation (MTRP) is pleased to present an exhibition featuring the award-winning photographer James G. Respess.

This exhibit will be on display in the Mission Trails Regional Park Visitor Center Art Gallery February 9 – March 8, 2013.  The public is cordially invited to a reception in honor of the artists on Sunday, February 17, 2013 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.  

About the Artist:

James G. Respess, Photographer:  Compositions created by Jim Respess often go beyond what the eye can see.  He is interested in how we perceive things and how visual images can be made to embody not only other elements of perception but also concepts such as time and narrative.  For this exhibition entitled “Close to the Soil”, Jim depicts the land without the obvious presence of humans but always with the traces of the people who have tended the earth.  It is important to perceive ourselves as the legacy and inheritors of those people who are our ancestors.

The MTRP Visitor and Interpretive Center is located at One Father Junipero Serra Trail, San Diego, CA 92119, and it is open daily from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.  Admission is free.

The MTRP Foundation was formed in 1988 as a 501(c) (3) non-profit public benefit corporation.
