The New York Center for Photographic Arts (NYC4PA) invites photographers world-wide to submit images using any photographic process (print, image transfer, emulsion transfer, encaustic, black and white, color etc.). Winners will receive over $2,500 in cash awards and be featured on the NYC4PA Online Gallery. The Grand Prize winning image will be posted on the NYC4PA home page.

We are very excited that Winners and Jurors Selections for this call will have the opportunity to participate in a cutting edge gallery show at the SOHO GALLERY FOR DIGITAL ART. This new gallery features 16 40” screens to show off your images in the best light. One screen will be dedicated to the Grand Prize Winning image. For the remaining prizewinners, we will have a small number of images that will rotate on the screen and for Jurors Selections a slightly larger number. We will invite all participants to send matted prints to be displayed in racks to be available for sale. Display prints will be limited to 20 inches on the longest side, matted.

In addition, an exhibition catalog of the group show will be available.

WATER - We can't live without it. It is all around us and an essential part of our lives. How do you capture water in a photograph. Is it the splash in the sunlight of a polar bear shaking itself off, a surfer caught in the curl, or a boat gently gliding on a lake. Teardrops, raindrops, boiling eggs, glistening reflections, waterfalls and beaches. The list goes on. Black and white, color, abstract - all mediums are welcome. Send us your visions of water.

EXHIBITION AND AWARDS:
Grand Prize: One photographer will receive $750. The image will be part of the New York gallery show, the NYC4PA Online Gallery, the exhibition catalog, and be featured on the home page of NYC4PA website.
First Prizes: 3 photographers will receive $250. Their images will be exhibited in the New York gallery show, the NYC4PA Online Gallery and in the exhibition catalog.
Second Prizes: 3 photographers will receive $200. Their images will be exhibited in the New York gallery show, the NYC4PA Online Gallery and in the exhibition catalog.
Third Prizes: 3 photographers will receive $150. Their images will be exhibited in the NY gallery show, the NYC4PA Online Gallery and in the exhibition catalog.
Jurors’ Selections: 20 additional images will be included in the NY Gallery show, the NYC4PA Online Gallery and in the exhibition catalog.
Honorable Mention: 20 additional images will each receive a certificate of honorable mention and be listed in online gallery and exhibition catalog.

ELIGIBILITY:
This Call for Entry is open worldwide to both amateur and professional photographers. NYC4PA invites photographers working in all mediums, styles and schools of thought to participate. Experimental and mixed techniques are welcome. Only 2-D work is eligible.

ENTRY FEE:
The entry fee is $35 for the first three images. Additional images may be submitted for $10 each. There is no limit to the number of images submitted.

JUROR: Ellen Denuto

Ellen Denuto has been capturing intimate portraits and still life using the magic of available light for more than 20 years. Creating visual signatures for clients around the globe, the world is her studio.

Early in Ellen’s career, as an original contributor for The Image Bank, founder Larry Freed selected a body of her personal images to be part of his International Collection. An exhibition at The Lever House Gallery in NYC, reviewed by Fred McDarrah (Village Voice), named Ellen “A brilliant punk fashion photographer to watch”. As a result the NYC Art Directors gave Ellen assignments for FOTO, Darkroom Photography, GRAPHIS, Minolta Mirror, Japanese Playboy and others. Her photograph “Nick and Gigi” became the face of the new generation of photographers on the poster AMERICAN VISION for NYU’s Washington Square Gallery exhibition of the same name.

Currently, Ms. Denuto is a juror, guest speaker and workshop leader for ASMP, PWP, PPA, SOHO Photo, as well as various Colleges and Universities. Her clients include Apple Computers, Starbucks, Greenbaum's Furniture, Safilo Eyewear, Pulsar Watch, Target stores, Horizon BC&BS, the Teatro Delle Muse Di Anocona, Graphis and Getty Images. She is a photography instructor teaching classes that include “The Digital Portfolio Project” for New York University, and “The Classic Nude” at the Hallmark Institute of Photography.

Ellen is also VP of ASMP in her home state of NJ.

By submitting you grant NYC4PA the right to use your image(s) for promotion and advertisement of NYC4PA.

Images selected by jurors for Prizes, Juror's Selection or Honorable Mention in a previous NYC4PA international call for entry are not eligible. Images previously submitted but not selected may be resubmitted as often as you wish.

AWARDS:
Should your award notification or prize be returned as undeliverable, NYC4PA will not resend the notice (whether by the same or another method,) research your address nor make any further attempts at delivery, and your submission will be deemed ineligible. Please be careful when entering all your contact information.

NYC4PA would prefer to remit cash awards through a PayPal transfer. If you do not have a PayPal account to which we can remit your award, please contact us for alternate arrangements.

NON U.S. APPLICANTS:
Our entry software has an address field for the state you live in. This applies to the US and several other countries - if you do not have “state” as part of your address simply leave that field blank - it is not mandatory.
