Steven Karidoyanes conducts the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra in the annual “Rising Stars Showcase,” a family concert bursting with youthful talent and energy. Joining the orchestra are the 100-plus voices of the Plymouth Children’s Chorus, Kathy McMinn director, performing a spirited medley of Irving Berlin songs titled From Rags to Ritz, as well as Howard Blake’s Walking in the Air from the British animated film, “The Snowman.” The winner of the South Shore Conservatory youth concerto competition, 18-year-old Zachary West of Plymouth, is featured in music from Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto. The program also includes music that is a favorite of conductor Karidoyanes, the exciting Carnival Overture by the popular Czech composer, Antonín Dvořák.
This event is part of the national food drive, Orchestras Feeding America. Audience members are encouraged to bring and contribute non-perishable food items to benefit the Food Warehouse of Greater Plymouth.
