Museum curator to speak on fossils and evolution

A presentation entitled “Fossils, Evolution, and Darwin” is scheduled at the San Bernardino County Museum on Sunday, February 10 at 2:00 p.m. The lecture, by Curator of Paleontology Eric Scott, is included with regular museum admission. During the presentation, Scott will offer a look at fossils and discuss what they tell can us about how evolution took place.

“The theory of evolution is one of the most far-reaching and successful theories ever advanced in the history of science,” said Scott. “Evolution is also often big news in the world today. What makes this theory so important? How does the fossil record contribute to evolutionary theory? Do fossils from the American southwest provide evidence of evolutionary processes?”

Scott will answer these and many other questions about evolution and fossils, just in time for the annual celebration of “Darwin Day”—the anniversary of the birth of Charles Darwin.

The San Bernardino County Museum is at the California Street exit from Interstate 10 in Redlands. The museum is open Tuesdays through Sundays from 9 am to 5pm. General admission is $8 (adult), $6 (military or senior), $5 (student), and $4 (child aged 5 to 12). Children under five and Museum Association members are admitted free. Parking is free. For more information, visit www.sb countymuseum.org. The museum is accessible to persons with disabilities.
