Special weekend greetings AFC readers,
We write to report that we survived both the snow storm, and flurry of critical assessments on George W. Bush's shower paintings. For those who have read reviews comparing his work to Jasper Johns and Jean-Baptise Chardin, we caution taking these words too seriously. The work suffers from poor compositional arrangement and a lack of field of depth, problems that are common to amateur painters and students.
But on to subjects that matter: Animal New York is offering 100 bucks to the entrant who creates their favorite video on the app vine. They promise to favor the salacious, so do your best. I want an AFC reader to win this thing.

Merry Christmas, thinking, rational people. Evgeny Morozov has written the most satisfying takedown of quack internet moralizing to date.

Back in October, we heard that George W. Bushâs retirement plan now includes painting dogs while out at his private ranch in Crawford, Texas. Now, thanks to hackers whoâve broken into the email accounts of Bush family members and close friends, weâve been given a glimpse into a few works in progress by Central Texasâ favorite recluse. Letâs take a closer look.

The blog stormed the Lower East Side, again, making it about halfway down Broadway and up Orchard, but not quite all the way to the donut place. In other words, there are a lot of galleries. This morning, we let you in on our discussion about Stephan Stoyanov, Joe Sheftel, and UNTITLED.

My tits are so going to win Animal New Yorkâs Very Short Film Festival. In honor of all those kids taking their tops off on Vine, the latest âitâ app that allows users to easily shoot and share six second video clips, Animal New York is doing something special: offering a hundred bucks to anyone who can woo them.

2013 was a good year for the Outsider Art Fair. The fair tripled its attendence, with crowds swelling to 9,500 visitors, up from 3,200 last year. Then, throughout the weekend, critics-of-note Jerry Saltz and Roberta Smith glowingly praised the fairâseveral times I overheard conversations by dealers dropping soundbites from those articles. Finally, most importantly, work was selling, and selling quick.
