March is already here and we have less than two months until the 60th Anniversary National Conference. Join hundreds of arts education professionals from around the country who will attend the Young Audiences 60th Anniversary National Conference, a three day event that will take place at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City Thursday, April 25 through Saturday, April 27, 2013. The Conference is designed to spark engaging discussions on current issues in arts in education and will feature presentations by key leaders in the field, site visits to local schools and community centers, and breakout sessions that offer unrivaled
professional development opportunities.
There is an impressive selection of breakout sessions scheduled for Thursday, April 25 and Saturday, April 27, 2013. One of the highlighted sessions will give an introduction to the first comprehensive review of the relationship between arts teaching and learning and the goals of the Common Core. It will be led by Dr. Nancy Rubino and Amy Charleroy from the Office of Academic Initiatives, The College Board.
We are also excited to announce that one of the conference's keynote speakers, Ayanna Hudson (Arts Education Director at the NEA) will be leading a breakout session that will present information about the NEA’s Arts Education funding category, how to apply to the NEA, and advice on preparing a strong application. Other highlights include a session exploring interactive game design, titled The New Frontier: Immersive Game Design; a hands-on workshop that will examine the Chicago Arts Partnerships in Education's (CAPE) successful professional development model; and a session that investigates a
new Title I arts integration program, SMART.
