Associated is pleased to announce its inaugural show with an installation by painter Jacob Cartwright. Please join us for an opening reception with the artist March 9th, part of the larger Armory Week Bushwick Late Night, from 7-10pm.
The Many Worlds Quantum Mechanical Model theorizes that any event which has more than one possible outcome results in a splintering of parallel dimensions where each potentiality is realized. Jacob's paintings depict shadow worlds, positing artistic conversations that never occurred but exist in the realm of the imaginable.
In his own words, "potential energy is harnessed from the obsessive mindset that searches for the rare or unrealized: privately pressed records, unpublished manuscripts, work whose vision exceeded it's funding, and rumored lost sessions moldering in studio vaults. This work exploits the unique magnetism that is held by things which are just out of reach; sounds and expressions that can be imagined but not directly experienced."
Jacob Cartwright is an artist living in Brooklyn, NY . He is a graduate of the Kansas City Art Institute with a degree in painting.
