I wanted to chat with you about the opportunity to interview the two-time Academy Award® nominated composer, Alan Silvestri, on his recent work on the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack from DreamWorks Animation's,The Croods.The soundtrack will be released on March 19th via Relativity Music Group.
Silvestri has received two Academy Award® nominations, as well as two Golden Globe nominations, for Best Original Score for Forrest Gump and one for Best Original Song for "Believe," performed by Josh Groban on The Polar Express soundtrack. He has also received four Grammy Award nominations, winning two awards - Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media for "Believe," which Groban performed during the 2005 Grammy Awards, and Best Instrumental Composition for "Cast Away End Credits" from Cast Away in 2002.
Silvestri composted the entire soundtrack for The Croods, which includes "Smash and Grab," and a sample of "Tusk" performed with the USC Trojan Marching Band, in addition to producing the original track,"Shine Your Way," performed by Owl City and Yuna, which premiered this week on Idolator. March 4th, 2013 - Relativity Music Group is set to release the music from the original motion picture soundtrack to DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc's (Nasdaq: DWA) upcoming comedy adventure The Croods on March 19th, three days before the film officially opens in theatres. The soundtrack includes the original song "Shine Your Way" featuring Republic Records' multi-platinum recording artist Owl City and Verve Records' artist Yuna. The song was produced by Owl City alongside two-time Academy Award® nominated composer Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard who wrote the track with the film's directors, Kirk DeMicco and Chris Sanders. In theaters March 22, 2013, The Croods is directed by Chris Sanders & Kirk DeMicco, and produced by Kristine Belson and Jane Hartwell. It stars, Nicolas Cage, Ryan Reynolds, Emma Stone, Catherine Keener, Clark Duke and Cloris Leachman. The Croods tells the story of the world's first family road trip. When their cave is destroyed, the Crood family must embark on a comedy adventure into strange and spectacular territory in search of a new home. As if patriarch Grug (Nicolas Cage) didn't already have enough to handle, it goes from bad to worse when they encounter an imaginative nomad named Guy (Ryan Reynolds). With Guy's help the Croods conquer their fear of the outside world and discover that they have exactly what it takes to survive - each other.
The soundtrack for The Croods was executive produced by Relativity Music Group's Jason Markey, Bob Bowen, Ryan Kavanaugh.
Relativity Music Group recently released soundtracks for Safe Haven, Focus Features' Hyde Park on Hudson and Promised Land and will be releasing the soundtrack for Relativity's upcoming comedy 21 and Over.
