TEA AND CONVERSATION

Sushmita
Chai with Sush: Conversations and Stories with Sushmita Mazumdar

Saturday March 16, 2:30pm, $20

Chai with Sush is all about chai, conversation, and story writing. Listen to Sush read one of her storybooks, start a discussion, take a 15-minute writing break, write a story of your own, share it with the group (or not), and take it home with you.

"When we drink chai in India, we sit down, take a break with friends and family at home or maybe with strangers in a tea-shop, and chat and share stories," says local artist and storyteller Sushmita Mazumdar. "In today's world, it is hard to give yourself the time to sit down and do just that, but we thought we'd try. So come on in, share some chai, listen to stories, write some of your own. What will you discover about yourself?"

Fee is $20, including chai tea and cookies.

Street parking is limited to two hours. Parking under Market Square (Fairfax and King Streets) is $2 for the entire afternoon.

Sushmita Mazumdar is an Arlington-based writer, book artist, and educator. Her artwork has been in art shows in Minneapolis, Denver, Glen Echo, Takoma Park, and Alexandria. She has taught workshops for children and adults in many museums and schools in the Washington D.C. area, taught summer reading programs in D.C. public libraries, and is an instructor with the Glen Echo Parks Partnership and at Iona Senior Services in Tenleytown. She has been a docent at the Smithsonian Freer & Sackler Galleries of Art for the last 13 yrs and her studio is at Convergence in Alexandria.
