*LADIES FREE ALL NIGHT....*

PANTY POWER is NOT what you think we got it from a creative young poet
who refers to a tradition from our ancestors of long ago followed by
LATINAS everywhere who WASH OUR PANTIES BY HAND. We were taught as
children NEVER let anyone else touch or wash your panties... we even go
in the shower & bath w/ them so WE ALWAYS HAVE CLEAN PANTIES... . So
when you see all these young guys with saggy pants showing their tighty
whiteys to the world, we Latinas have our panties firmly in place: PANTY
POWER!!!! —

Aurora, Tito & La Lupe 1974

At the Casa Blanca, 1974 interviewing Tito Puente when La Lupe walks in
decked out in tight black leather pants, knee high boots, a bustier
wrapped in ostrich feathers. She'd just had the face lift and did not
look too happy to spy Puente accompanied. When he introduced her to me
her long fire engine red nails came dangerously close to my face but
then she saw the tape recorder on the table and changed her mind. She
sat with us for this photo where Tito is obviously holding her back from
getting too close...whew!

*Zon del Barrio:* /Music from the Streets of Latin N.Y./

If you like salsa,we do it "dura" hardcore style. If you like Boricua
roots music, we do it Cortijo style and if you like it like that, Zon
del Barrio does it like that with English language boogaloos. Zon del
Barrio brings you music from the African Diaspora to the streets of New
York.

A high energy musical extravaganza that celebrates Latino traditions and
culture led by BMI composer, writer and historian Aurora Flores with
musical direction by multi-instrumentalist and arranger *David
Fernandez*. A play on the words "son," the musical genre found in the
Antilles and the English "zone" where Latinos work and struggle hard to
party just as hard in the barrio zones.

After a triumphant performance at Global Fest-France, recent shows
opposite jazz legends Roy Ayers and Les McCann; a tour of the French
Caribbean with Afro-Cuban trumpet legend Alfredo "Chocolate" Armenteros;
bandleader Aurora & Zon del Barrio are back in the US to thrill
audiences with their mix of classic Salsa, Plena, Boogaloo and just
plain, great dance music! Check out our concerts, dances and Latin music
history lectures and percussion workshops.
