CLAYGROUND is a FREE Ceramics Studio Program for Adults, and children accompanied by an adult. 

Clay is $2 per pound (you must use ours,) and includes glazes and firing.  We have lots of tools, but you are welcome to bring your own.  There are potter's wheels, wedging table, slab roller and work tables.  Our well-lite ceramics studio is downstairs. Currently, there is no elevator.

Clayground in an "open studio," meaning there is no instruction.  Therefore, some experience working with clay is necessary...even just a little.

Whether you are a beginner or an accomplished painter, this is the painting class for you! For those of you who don't know Kathy, she's a gifted artist, but equally important to her students, she's a patient, empowering instructor. You will learn a lot from her calm, skilled approach! Oil painters bring oil paints, no-odor turpentine and Liquin gel medium. Acrylic painters bring acrylic paints, acrylic gel medium. Everyone bring brushes, pallet knife and a canvas, board or whatever surface you wish to paint on. Bring images if you want them for reference. Register early, class size is limited to ten students.

Encaustic Painting Seminar

1 Saturday               June 29                   9am - 2 pm

 

Encaustic is an ancient method, which combines oil paints, varnish and beeswax to create a textural painting of remarkable color. The paint/wax mixture is applied with a palette knife, then heated until it melts and flows. This class is for beginner and intermediate painters. Bring oil paints if you have them and a lunch.

Stained Glass Seminar

1 Sunday                 May 19             9am-Noon

 

This hands-on class introduces students to copper-foil method (Tiffany style) stained glass craft by completing a small project. You will design a small sun-catcher, select and cut the glass, grind each piece, foil them and then solder the glass pieces together. All supplies provided.

Lead by husband and wife artist-team, Kim & Beth Dary, Lemon Street hosts Washington Middle School's "Art Club" twice a week after-school.  The students made the amazing 6' totem pictured here for their school.  It's on display at the gallery through March 10th.  If you come have a look at it Saturday night, you'll get to meet some of the participants and you'll get food!

42nd Annual District-Wide Student Art Exhibit

Presented by Kenosha Unified School District Fine Arts Dept., Celebrate Art, will be held at Kenosha Public Museum
March 15 - April 21.  Each year, Lemon Street presents a "Young Artist Award" to three high school students.  Each artist receives the ribbon pictured here and a gift certificate.

Kenosha Public Museum is located at 5500 - 1st Ave.  A reception will be held there on Friday, March 15, 5:30pm-8pm
