FIRST: Gerald Slota to speak at Asheville Art Museum
We are excited to collaborate with the Asheville Art Museum in hosting an artist lecture with Gerald Slota THIS THURSDAY, April 11th, at 6 PM. The lecture coincides with Slota’s retrospective exhibition, Story, opening Friday, April 12th at Castell Photography. Slota will be discussing the history of his working methods as an artist, as well as touching on the experience of putting together his retrospective exhibition. All proceeds go to the Asheville Art Museum.
Admission is $5 for general admission, and $4 for museum members and students. All proceeds go to the Asheville Art Museum.
THEN: Story | A Retrospective from Gerald Slota
Opening THIS Friday, April 12th, 6-8 pm
We hope you will join us THIS FRIDAY for the opening of out newest exhibition, Story, featuring photo-based works from Gerald Slota from 6-8 PM. This will be Slota’s first exhibition since his book, Story, was listed as one of The New York Times Magazine’s top photo books of 2012. Story, which will include pieces from multiple bodies of work, serves as a mid-career retrospective for Slota, and will be accompanied by his monograph of the same name.
This is a landmark exhibition for Castell Photography, and the gallery is thrilled to exhibit such an important collection of works by an influential working artist such as Slota. This show directly speaks to our gallery’s mission of showing work that is relevant to contemporary photography, as well as to the gallery’s mission of continually educating our visitors and clientele on the value and importance of photography as a fine art medium as well as within the art world as a whole.
Specialty cocktails will be served, and the artist will be in attendance to celebrate the evening, speak with guests, and enjoy the event.
