Good morning,
As many of you already know, we transferred ROCK AROUND ASIA Art Gallery last December, to the sumptuous lobby of Novotel Suvarnabhumi International Airport Hotel (Bangkok). In parallel, we closed our showroom located on Sukhumvit Soi 45.
This move marks the end of the first act started on October 2011 in a beautiful three-storey house located downtown Bangkok. Hidden by tall green trees, this quiet spacious house has hosted for nearly a year, the first motley collection of ROCK AROUND ASIA and the outdoor cinema we opened on the rooftop.
When early September, the opportunity to occupy this fantastic space in the Novotel Hotel Lobby arose, we immediately accepted: This is the ideal place to develop both ROCK AROUND ASIA and ROCK AROUND BANGKOK.
Rock Around Asia Art Gallery
The 250 m2 showroom we occupy beside check in/out lobby counter, is located only 20 minutes far from downtown Bangkok via AirLink Airport (Makkasan / Asoke / Petchaburi station).
The gallery, organized in thematic areas, has exceptional lighting through the large window bay that separates us from the outside, beautiful white tile floor, high walls and no ceiling to keep the impression of volume.
Our concept remains unchanged, namely mixing contemporary art often inspired by Asian traditions to modern artworks and original objects of decoration.
An important section is now dedicated to Fine Khmer Art by promoting Cambodian stone carvers working for the Museum of Fine Arts in Phnom Penh: Figurines of Jayavarman VII, Garuda, Hanuman, Apsara, Indradewi, Angels, Buddha, Funeral urns, etc., the most imposing measuring up to 80 cm. Same quality but in a different artistic style shifted is the new colorful collection from Bali.
About Thai artist painters, we are very focused on Silawit Poolsawat and Paitoon Jumee, because we do believe in their fabulous potential and we really admire the quality of their creations.
Export
We do ship all over the world via DHL and ThaiPost. In case of Buddha purchase, we are approved by the Ministry of Fine Arts to export religious items under license (except antiques).
Rock Around Bangkok
For those wishing to discover the advent of Bangkok through the prism of culture, we have created Rock Around Bangkok, a unique, exclusive and unforgettable 6 days 7 nights urban travel experience. Maximum 8 persons per group (a group is made of people who now each other – only).
This first newsletter of 2013 is an opportunity to reconnect with you after all these past events and the establishment of this new location. The grand opening of the gallery was held last March 7 in the presence of many guests who did enjoy this unique art place in Bangkok, halfway between the art gallery and a museum, a place for contemporary and modern art.
