In this panel we will continue the discussion instigated by In Case We Don't Die.  In additon to a dialogue about the exhibition the panel will discuss: future creative spaces, temporary creative communities/ networks, the current relationship between art and social politics, and the potential of the shared creative process. The panelists for this discussion are: Bibi Katholm, Chris Natrop and Max Presneill, moderated by Jason Ramos

Short Film Open Call Screening with Directors

Saturday, April 20 from, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

3 featured filmmakers from our Open Call for Short Films will be screening selected films at the museum and will discuss their film after each screening. The screenings are FREE but, space is limited.  Reserve your spot on eventbrite.com.  Links for tickets to each screening are provided below:

 

"Uncertainty Principle" by Kelly Sun Kim (17 min) Screening from 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Out of the moments, I attempt to visually construct a psychological space with other sense of tension among individuals and the unconscious of them, events and their randomness as well as causes and effects.  Tickets for "Uncertainty Principle"

 

"Falsehood" by Kenneth Lui (30 min) Screening from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Little Bo Peep had lost her sheep and with it any aspirations of being a herder.  Years latershe has become a defense attourney given the case of her life... defend the Big Bad Wolf in the infamous Red Riding Hood rape case.  Tickets for "Falsehood"

 

"Peter and the Mischievous Hanky" by Emett Casey (30min) Screening from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Grieving the recent death of his mother, Peter enters the mysterious world of his imagination to retrive the last gift she left him, now stolen by a beautiful, but evil queen.  Along the way he must learn to trust the unknown and redefine all he knew.  Tickets for "Peter and the Mischievous Hanky"

Stories in Art

Thursday, April 25, May 2 and May 9 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  FREE Story telling Museum Visit and Art Workshops, for children ages 7 to 11 accompanied by an adult. Participants and their parents will meet at the Torrance Art Museum for storytelling, and afterwards, they tour the current exhibitions.  Following the tour participants will create artwork related to the afternoon's activities in the Children’s Art Wing of the Torrance Cultural Arts Center.  Space is limited and registration is required. (Younger siblings will not be creating artwork.)  Library book list with related topics is distributed at the end of the workshop. Register by Calling 310-618-2326 or 310-618-2376.
