ABOUT: CreateHereNow is a space reuse pilot program launching in Bridgeport, CT. The mission of this project is to activate vacant locations by transforming them into creative small businesses in the Downtown area.

Our top priority is to see businesses start up, grow and become part of the neighborhood’s activation along with the creation of a new, participatory community centered around creative ideas, sustainable growth and frequent events.

Nourish to Flourish Health Workshop with Janet Luongo

Paint Your Pants Weekend Edition with Cathleen Devellis

1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Join us for another fun day of painting with friends! Bring your jeans/jacket/skirt and learn how to transform into pieces of wearable artwork. We encourage anyone from ages 8 to 108 to come and jazz up their wardrobe. All supplies and refreshments will be provided.

Fees: $20 Single, $30 for Pairs (Parents and kids, couples, etc.)

Lyrical Voices Poetry Writing Workshop with Shanna Melton

April 20th 2013

1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

The Writer’s Group is a workshop designed for creative people to motivate and inspire one another. Shanna Melton will guide the group through writing exercises and prompts. Everyone is encouraged to express themselves freely. Sharing is optional but creating is necessary. Come out prepared with your pen, paper, and an aspiration to write.

Fee: $10 Suggested Donation.

Cover Story Journal Workshop with Robin Gilmore

April 20th 2013

4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Create a beautiful cover with mixed media materials, tell your story with images, evoke feelings and thoughts to create stories and leave with a brand new journal to write about your travels and adventures. Great for all ages. Bring personal mementos you would like to add to the journal. Journals and materials provided.

Fee: $15 (pay at time of registration or day of event)

Go on a guided tour of Etsy.com with certified Etsy Educator, Jennifer St. Jean, graduate of Etsy's June 2012 Educator training. Jen will discuss what you need to set up an Etsy shop, how to get started making your first sales, where to go when you need help and the four keys to Etsy success.

Jen has been selling on Etsy since 2009, has had thousands of sales both on and off Etsy and has sold her items all over the world. Jen's Etsy shop name is ittybittybag.

Painting the Still Life from Life with Maralyn Adlin

April 26th 2013

5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Join Maralyn Adlin (B.F.A Pratt Institute/practicing Art Therapist) for this non-intimidating workshop suitable for anyone interested in learning specific tools and concepts for creating a still life painting.

Many topics will be covered such as, composition, values, color mixing, and spatial relationships. A short slide presentation will show examples of still life paintings from different time periods in art history. Great for beginners and anyone at any level looking to approach and think about painting in perhaps a new way!

Workshop age suggestion: Teen-Adult.

Supplies will be provided which are included in the fee. If you have a favorite brush feel free to bring it with you.

Interested in participating in the 2013 Bridgeport Arts Fest? Whether you’ve been with us every year or looking to exhibit your work for the first time, the Info Session is the best way to get your questions answered and reserve your area!

We will be there to:
+ Answer your questions about the Bridgeport Arts Fest
+ Assist you with the application forms
+ Receive your completed forms and payment
+ Take your photo for the vendor permit

Light refreshments will be provided.

Jewelry Makeover Workshop with Robin Gilmore

April 27th 2013

2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Bring your own jewelry to repurpose/ redesign, some materials provided.

Just in time for Mother’s Day create something special for mom or an heirloom from Mom’s treasure for family members. Most materials will be provided.
