Celebrate Bike to Work Day in style by turning your wheels into a supercool “art bike” at Rhythmix on Wednesday night, May 8th. RCW will provide paint and paper gears for you to decorate and put into the spokes of your bicycle tires, the rest of your creation is up to you! Paper supplies have been generously donated by Artist & Craftsman Supply in Berkeley.
After winning BEST OF PARADE in Alameda 2010 July 4th Parade, RCW thought they were giving other groups a chance to win by launching its first Art Bike Brigade in 2011 and were surprised to win Best of Parade again! In 2012, RCW assembled a colorful entourage of two-wheelers alongside a 50’ float full of bellydancers, taiko drummers, capoeiristas and more bringing home its 3rd trophy. Everyone from the Bike Art Jam is invited to ride with Rhythmix in the 2013 July 4th Parade this year as well!
**Please feel free to bring food and drink to share
Rhythmix Cultural Works (RCW) opened its doors in 2007 as a community arts center, bringing people of all ages together for a wide range of high quality arts experiences. Only five minutes from downtown Oakland (just off Hwy 880 @ Fruitvale), RCW offers affordable spaces for live performances, exhibitions, arts education and cultural exchange for youth, families and adults. RCW supports local, regional and international artists in the presentation of their work and strives to encourage community awareness through participation in the arts.
