	ART'S ALIVE AND WELL IN THE SCHOOLS APRIL 28 TO JUNE 9 Opening Reception: Sunday, April 28 | 1 to 5 PM Opening Reception sponsored by Pratt & Whitney Canada At the Southern Alberta Art Gallery, springtime is celebrated with the opening of our annual exhibition Art’s Alive and Well in the Schools. The feeling of rejuvenation surrounds us as we welcome the arrival of hundreds of artworks. Brightly coloured and uninhibited, these artworks restore our own sense of joyful wonder and youthful gaiety. 	BLOOM ABSTRACT WORKS FROM THE SOUTHERN ALBERTA ART GALLERY AND THE UNIVERSITY OF LETHBRIDGE ART COLLECTIONS APRIL 28 TO JUNE 9 This exhibition brings together a series of abstract paintings, drawings and prints that share a visual sensibility and an approach to abstraction that favors the spontaneous, organic, uninhibited and immediate. In watercolour, a ‘bloom’ refers to the migration of pigment from wetter to drier surfaces, a process in which chance is at play and the material qualities of water, paper and paint are allowed to enact their will on the picture plane. This technique is evident in the ten watercolour paintings by Harold Klunder, which formed the starting point for this exhibition. Read more.
