For the first iteration of Paris Photo Los Angeles, Cherry and Martin presents works by Brian Bress, Robert Heinecken and Amanda Ross-Ho.
Brian Bress will exhibit new framed video 'portraits:' The monitor shows a soundless video loop in which actors - often Bress himself - perform as isolated characters. The sculptural masks the actors wear originate from photocollages from found and photographed images by Bress. Recent and upcoming solo exhibitions include the Museum of Contemporary Art, Denver (Denver, CO); Museo d'arte contemporanea Roma (Rome, Italy); Santa Barbara Museum of Art (Santa Barbara, CA); and New Museum (New York, NY).
Robert Heinecken (1931-2006) will be represented by works from throughout his career, including selections from the photocollage series Lessons in Posing Subjects from the early 1980s. Heinecken's work is the subject of a solo exhibition in March 2014 at the Museum of Modern Art (New York). His 1980s slide projection masterpiece, "Surrealism on TV" (1986) will be on view at Cherry and Martin’s Art Basel / Art Feature presentation. Selected works by Robert Heinecken will be included in "The Photographic Object 1970," opening at Le Consortium (Dijon, France) on July 3, 2013.
Amanda Ross-Ho will exhibit a large photoprint titled PARROT_MASTER_FINAL (2010). Ross-Ho will have a solo project in July at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago. Recent solo and group museum exhibitions include "TEENY TINY WOMAN" at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles in 2012; "UNTITLED NOTHING FACTORY" (Visual Arts Center, Austin, TX); "Free" (New Museum, NY); "New Photography 2010" (Museum of Modern Art, NY); and "Image Transfer" (Henry Art Gallery, Seattle, WA).
