OPEN CALL: EMBASSY GALLERY & MEXICO PROJECT SPACE RESIDENCY EXCHANGE 2013
Embassy Gallery and Mexico Project Space are producing part two of their residency exchange, open to emerging artists and practitioners*.
The first half of the exchange took place in March 2013, in which Leeds based artist Alfie Strong held residence for 2 weeks at a studio in Edinburgh, producing new work for the exhibition, 'The Executioner Executes Himself' at Embassy Gallery in April 2013.
Embassy are looking for an artist/practitioner* based in Edinburgh to complete the second half of the exchange, a 2-week residency at Mexico Project Space in Leeds.
The residency at Mexico will begin on Saturday 22nd June and will culminate in an exhibition or event at the gallery from 12th - 19th july.
The successful artist/practitioner will be welcomed to Leeds with a tour of the sights and current exhibitions across the city, before starting the residency. For 2 weeks, they will work closely with the curators and artists at Mexico, developing the exhibition and publicity/marketing as well as accompanying materials.
The artist/practitioner will be provided with: studio and workspace within Mexico, a fee of £500, accommodation, travel costs.
The project aims to provide space and financial assistance towards the production of new work and research in a challenging environment. A publication will be produced and publicity will be provided for the project and exhibition by Embassy and Mexico Project Space.
The deadline for applications is Saturday 18th May 2013.
Unfortunately we are unable to take applications from students.
*All types of practice are considered ie. writers, curators, musicians, footballers etc.
Collective groups and collaborative projects are welcome, however the fee and costs will be divided but we will help where we can.
