Hello,
Big
event, big hair, big cause–MMoCA Hair Affair is tomorrow night!
This is a dynamic, highly-visual event
that brings a unique audience together – established art supporters and cutting
edge hair stylists to create a truly extraordinary event. The interest has been
so great that this event is sold out.
MMoCA Hair Affair -
Sunday, April 14, 3–4:30 pm
Madison Museum of Contemporary Art
Coverage of this
event does more than showcase an important local event, it increases awareness
that the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art is free for people to explore and
enjoy.
I can connect
you with a stylist and model, as well as a representative from MMoCA.
I have included
below a press release for the event and a link where you can find images of past
events.
I look forward to talking with you.
Best,
Erika

New Twists for Hair Affair 2013
MADISON, WI—
Fantastic hair sculptures—futuristic,
retro, and historical—will be on display at the Madison Museum of Contemporary
Art Hair Affair 2013: The Art of Hair. A biennial gala fundraiser, Hair
Affair supports the museum’s free exhibitions and education programs, while
showcasing the skill and creativity of premier salons and stylists from the Madison area. Inspired by the theme of “Time
Travel,” participating stylists will pull out all the stops in a runway show at
the museum from 7
to 10:30
pm on Thursday,
April 25, 2013.
Hair sculptures take center stage at Hair
Affair as models walk down the museum’s stunning glass-enclosed staircase and
mingle with guests. Creativity and ingenuity are prime ingredients in hairdos
that are radical departures from a basic “good cut.” Examples from Hair Affair
2009 and Hair Affair 2011 include:
- Fifteen feet of braided golden hair interwoven with
ribbons, flowers, pearls and fresh baby’s breath to suggest a modern-day
Rapunzel. Designer: RZ & Company.
- The quintessence of spring, with the model’s own hair
interwoven with additional fibers to represent budding branches, as
butterflies made of real hair hover about. Designer: William Jon Salon.
- A windswept design incorporating leaves and twigs,
evoking Red Riding Hood’s escape through the woods with the Big Bad Wolf
in pursuit. Designer: Blues Hair Studio.
A slideshow of styles from earlier Hair
Affairs may be viewed
on the museum’s website.
Hair Affair 2013 will feature fifteen
participating salons. Guests will enjoy delectable seasonal hors d’oeuvres from
Fresco, cocktails, grooves from DJ Nick Nice, and a silent auction offering
enticing items.
Generous support for
Hair Affair 2013 has been provided by Hair Affair’s sponsors and
Big Wigs: The Century House, Dean Clinic—The Aesthetic Surgery Center, Summit Credit
Union, Goodman’s Jewelers, Brava Magazine, Think Ink &
Design, Ann Curtis and Sam Gubbels, Valerie and Andreas Kazamias, Bob Leschke,
Katie Dowling-Marcus and Ben Marcus, Kathie Nichols, Peggy and Tom Pyle, and
Theodora Zehner.
