Wednesday 1st May, from 6.30pm, marks the opening of two exhibitions at the Pump House Gallery; Inspirational Objects: Nature as Designer and Common Knowledge.
Inspirational Objects: Nature as Designer, 2nd May - 16th June, explores the connection between the man made and the natural.  Artist, and curator, Alison Milner and photographer Steve Speller encourage you to look a little differently at everyday objects.

Common Knowledge, 2nd May - 19th May, presents the work of the Guardians of Common Knowledge, a group of local young people, who have been working artist Jacques Nimki.  This exhibition illustrates their ongoing research into the natural and social heritage of Tooting Bec Common. Guardians of Common Knowledge are Tejui Parajiea, Joe Herley, Jess Gell, Hamza Javaid and Catherine Parkes.

Inspirational Object: Nature is Designer and Common Knowledge are both a part of Wandsworth Arts Festival and Fringe, on from the 3 - 19th May.

On the first Sunday of the new exhibitions, Matthew Kay and Heather Jones bring their large-scale version of this classic Victorian toy for an afternoon of experimental animation at the Pump House Gallery.  FREE, drop in workshop for all ages.

The work created at this event and the giant zoetrop will then be on display at The Shimmy.  The Shimmy is a free interactive art event running through the streets of Putney Riverside on Sunday 19th May, from 1pm - 5pm.  It is organised by Wandsworth Arts Team.

Monthly Do: Become a Guardian
Sunday 12 May 2013

12noon - 1.30pm and 2pm – 3.30pm

UP Projects presents an interactive workshop which will empower children to become Guardians of their local green space through exploring and observing the nature around them. Aimed at 7-8 year olds, all children must be accompanied by an adult.  FREE but booking essential: call 0207 377 9677 or email bethan@upprojects.com

During the next exhibition, the first floor will be an ongoing workshop space, with materials available for you to create your own inspirational objects.
