The evening will include a performance by artist Kapwani Kiwangs and a short film screening followed by a conversation between Kapwani Kiwangs and Dr Nick Campion about cultural cosmology theories around Astroculture.  (NOTE: Kapwani Kiwangs' performance will not be livestreamed or filmed).

Melanie Jackson in conversation with Esther Leslie

Flat Time House, 210 Bellenden Road, London SE15 4BW
Friday 26 April 6.30-8.30pm

To coincide with South London Art Map Last Fridays, Melanie Jackson and Esther Leslie will be 'in conversation' discussing Goethe's concept of the Urpflanze and how as a model for thinking it can transfigure across the social, political and artistic spectrum, acting as a narrative gateway to science fiction and folkloric myths.

Melanie Jackson has collaborated with writer Esther Leslie on the production of a text that has informed the work and a publication, THE UR-PHENOMENON, that is available as part of The Urpflanze (Part 2).  To reserve a free place please email info@flattimeho.org.uk

The exhibition, The Urpflanze (Part 2) continues Thursday-Sunday 12noon-6pm, until 12 May 2013

Saturday 18 May 2013, noon-8pm

The Arts Catalyst is opening along with other contemporary art venues and galleries in Clerkenwell and King’s Cross for visitors to come and find out more about what we do, see videos documenting our past projects – like Simon Faithfull’s Escape Vehicle No 6, Tomas Saraceno’s Poetic Cosmos of the Breath, Rachel Mayeri’s Primate Cinema: Apes as Family, Attention Weightlessness, Critical Art Ensemble’s Genterra 2002, Brandon Ballengée’s Malamp UK and more.

Patrick Stevenson-Keating will be demonstrating The Quantum Parallelograph (above) enabling participating visitors to explore their parallel identities in work that examines the scientific and philosophical ideas surrounding the theory of quantum physics and multiple universes.

The day will also provide a chance to learn more about The Arts Catalyst’s programme as we start our twentieth year and be able to browse and buy our books and artists' maps at sale prices.
